Set during China's Boxer Rebellion of the late 1800s, the books tell the story of two young people fighting on opposite sides of the Rebellion. It's filled with amazing illustrations and best of all reminds its readers that it's often hard to decide who is right and who is wrong when it comes to conflict, and that people have past experiences that lead them to where they are that makes it hard to place judgement on them.
Gene Luen Yang is a winner of the Michael L. Printz Award, and a finalist for the National Book Award for his first book American Born Chinese.
